Seattle's Golden Potlatch 1911 - 1941
GoldenPotlatch.com was initiated in April 2013 by Seattle resident Daniel Kerlee, to help tell the Golden Potlatch story and share the excitement of over thirty-five years of  personal enjoyment.

GoldenPotlatch.com is an incomplete, dynamic work in progress and will grow over time to include many photographs, articles, and images of Golden Potlatch items. The Golden Potlatch is a complex topic with many side aspects to study, and will involve additional research over many years.

Images of ephemera and articles used in the site are generously granted by individuals. Please use them freely; for commercial use a credit to GoldenPotlatch.com is appreciated. If you have an image or story that you would like to share, or wish to contact us for any reason whatsoever, please write : Dan@aype.com

If you have enjoyed GoldenPotlatch.com, you may also enjoy another site about Seattle's heritage of performance and celebration, AYPE.com.

GoldenPotlatch.com is dedicated to two great raconteurs of Seattle history. I never met Gordon Newell, but it was from him that I, as a truant collegiate, first learned of the Golden Potlatch and the AYPE. His colorful writing conveys the fascination and high spirit of the city's first one hundred years with a flourish that has rarely been surpassed. And I humbly claim our living treasure Paul Dorpat as a friend and mentor who has shown me more pathways through Seattle's streets, neighborhoods and byways than I can ever hope to follow. His determination and boldness in keeping history alive, fun, and in front of all of us will forever remain an inspiration and a model. If I can achieve a small part of what these two have accomplished, my satisfaction will be Golden indeed.

I would also like to acknowledge my indebtedness to a great and growing number of friends, local historians, curators, ephemera dealers, Golden Potlatch lovers, and most of all patient and loving family members who have made my personal explorations of heritage and history possible and pleasurable. This is your site as well.
